On the downside, however, once the compass settled down the needle wasn't pointing north, it was pointing southwest. I tried it in multiple locations and got the same results. So it's a visual success but something of a mechanical failure.

I like that it is three pieces that screw together so it can be taken apart and easily carried in bag, if needed. The seller's offer was a good value, and the expedited shipping was amazingly fast. I'm recovering from a severely broken leg, so I have to add a rubber tip with four prongs for stability. This beautifully crafted cane will help me get around in style. Very pleased with this purchase.
